Fibres made of porous glass (TRISOFIL®) are also best suited as carrier in sensor technology. Other potential applications comprise process technology (carrier for catalysts) and basic biochemical research (e.g. blotting techniques). As a chemically inert and biologically safe product, use of TRISOFIL® as an ingredient in biomedical devices as filler or reinforcement in composites or implants is also a promising approach.
